🌐 What is Codabench?

Codabench is a web-based platform designed for organizing scientific challenges and benchmarks in Artificial Intelligence. In practice, the system allows AI algorithms to compete on various tasks, enabling the collaborative production of science across multiple fields, like medicine, physics, linguistics, economics, or ecology.

The platform, is developed and hosted mainly in France 🇫🇷, at LISN, Université Paris-Saclay.

📈 Key Statistics and Impact

Codabench and its predecessor, CodaLab, rank among the largest global actors in the field, hosting one of the highest numbers of AI competitions worldwide.

Number of major competitions organized across different platforms. Independent study by mlcontests.com.

Two years after its official launch in August 2023, the main server counts 30,000 users, 500 public competitions, and over 200,000 algorithm submissions from participants. The platform continues to grow rapidly, attracting academic and industrial partners thanks to its innovative features and commitment to open science.

⚙️ Main Features

⛭ Open Source — The entire platform’s code is open source and open to contributions, supporting open science and transparent AI evaluation.

⛭ Containerized Environments — Using Docker and Podman technologies, Codabench isolates test environments, ensuring experiment reproducibility and simplifying logistics.

⛭ Decentralized Computating — Organizers can connect their own compute resources to their challenges and benchmarks, making the system fully scalable. A crucial feature in a field where computational demand keeps increasing.

⛭ Flexibility — By allowing organizers to provide their own evaluation code, virtually any experimental protocol can be achieved.

⛭ Confidential Data — Organizers retain full control over their evaluation data, which never needs to be uploaded to the main server, enabling secure research in medical and industrial contexts.
